After a months break in August we are back doing the Stitch at L’Arche… that does mean that another entire month has passed without an updated blog post – oops. The Facebook page does get updated more often.
Last Saturday’s session was making little triangle pyramid pouches in our quest for zipper mastery!
Some people who are more advanced than others, did some quilting on their pouches – show offs!
There was some unpicking done but all in the name of perfection (I think everyone kept forgetting the little tab on the side of the pouch)!
Tara had to be a little different, had to create hers with the zipper facing the other way to everyone else.
We think it would make a great little tent for a mini teddybear 🙂

I think we all passed with flying colours
This weekend we continued with the Zipper mastery by making some more pouches… some people are making a large boxy pouch, others a boxy bottomed pouch and a few others are continuing with triangle pouches of different sizes… no photos of these just yet – they will be coming next week after we finish them… who knew that outer fabric, inner lining, interfacing and wadding, coupled with a zip would cause such issues 😉
Here’s the pattern and tutorial we used so that you can reach zipper nirvana with us.
The Crafty Gemini also made a video to follow if you prefer that method and she also mentions how the size can make a taller shape https://youtu.be/cXZ6BTEnPE4
PS: We had a good root through our stash of donated fabrics, tools and bits that we have required from lovely generous people and it only took several sandwiches (yum… thank’s Tara!) and several bags of recycling to sort it all.
This is just a few of the boxes of fabrics, now sorted into small, medium and large pieces. The yarn is all in one bag now and we discovered a few things that had us scratching our heads… plus a bag of Tara’s clothing that she had lost 6 months previously 😀
See you next week for the continuation of ‘fighting with zippers’
